Torrevieja & La Mata
Sunshine, pink lagoons, golden beaches and the mildest climate in Europe
About the area
Pink lakes, blue sea and 320 sunny days
Torrevieja is one of the most popular resort towns on the Costa Blanca, with a population of around 100,000. It is famous for two salt lagoons pink and green that form part of a protected nature reserve.
La Mata is a quiet resort area 5 km north of Torrevieja centre. It is home to the region's best beach stretching over 2 km, a charming promenade with restaurants, and the entrance to the natural park.
Thanks to its unique microclimate (less than 300 mm of rainfall per year) and proximity to the sea, winters here are the warmest in continental Europe making it an ideal destination year-round.
